Principal’s Welcome Letter

Dear Prospective Families,

Thank you for your interest in St. Mel’s Catholic Academy. I hope that you will have the opportunity to visit us and see our school in action during our Open Houses. If those times are not convenient to you, please feel free to give us a call and we would be happy to schedule a tour and/or Buddy day for you and/or your child at a time that is more convenient. We are confident that you will find St. Mel’s Catholic Academy to be a vibrant, challenging, and fait-filled educational community and we are excited to welcome your child into it. Here at St. Mel’s we strive to educate the whole child, academically, social-emotionally and spiritually as we Focus on Faith, Family and Future:

  • Faith – As a Catholic Academy, Gospel values are at the core of our mission. We recognize that each student, as a child of God, is blessed with his/her own unique talents and interests and is respected as an individual. Through family and school liturgies, religious instruction, celebration of values/virtues and sacramental preparation, we encourage our students to strengthen their relationship with Jesus. At St. Mel’s you can expect a loving, supportive environment were the needs of all our students are met.
  • Family – Parents are a child’s first teachers and we recognize and value the relationship we have with our families. We actively seek feedback from our families and strive to be in constant communication. Parents, teachers, school administration and students are all on the same team, and as we work together, our students succeed.
  • Future – At St. Mel’s we strive to provide the foundation to prepare our students for the challenges of tomorrow. Through our 1:1 technology, innovative science/STEM program, and small class size, we can provide individualized and differentiated instruction with high levels of student engagement. Studies show that when students are actively engaged in their learning, academic achievement soars. We encourage our students to be the morally aware problem-solvers and critical thinkers of the future.

Again, we thank you for your interest in St. Mel’s Catholic Academy for your child’s education. We would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have and look forward to welcoming you and your child into the St. Mel’s family.

Yours in faith,
Amy Barron, Principal
