Mr. Stein’s February Message

Dear parents,Principal Stein

St. Mel’s Catholic Academy has been very busy this January and we have so much to look forward to in the month of February.

On January 8th, St. Mel’s students celebrated Mass for The Baptism of The Lord as we ended the season of Christmas. The students sang songs and contemplated the faith, travels, and courage of the Magi. As they do every Monday, our students recited the Miraculous Medal Novena as we prayed for the intercession of the Blessed Mother.

January ended with the always exciting Catholic Schools Week. Our open house on the 28th was a big success and many prospective families came to visit. Our school showcased our artistic skills and talents as we displayed students’ art work in Father O’Malley Hall. The week was filled with many other memorable and fun events such as the Mad Science assembly, Bingo, family game day, teacher swap, and the student favorite pancake breakfast. Thank you to the Parent Academy Association and all the other organizations that made the open house and Catholic Schools Week such a fun time for the entire community.

In February, we begin with the blessing of the throats for the feast of St. Blaise. The PAA is hosting the first annual Disco Night Party in Father O’Malley hall on February 3rd. The students will attend Mass on the 14th for Ash Wednesday as Lent begins. Our junior high students will enjoy the Valentine’s Day dance on Friday February 9th. Our annual World’s Finest Chocolate sale begins in February, so be on the lookout for those famous chocolate bars! All proceeds go directly to helping St. Mel’s Catholic Academy.

Lastly, on behalf of the children, families, and faculty of St. Mel’s Catholic Academy, I would like to wish Father Sauer well on his sabbatical in Rome. We will miss you very much, and we will keep you in our prayers. Enjoy your time and we can’t wait for your return.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our parish and our school. May God continue to bless you and the St. Mel’s community.
