Welcome to the wonderful world of St. Mel’s Kindergarten! This year will hold much learning and growth for our students! Please explore our page for upcoming news, events, homework, and resources. The links can be found on the right side of this page. If you are using a mobile device the links can be found on the bottom of this page.
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so happy to be starting a new school year with you and your child!
We will be getting ready for the Advent season by preparing for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Some important symbols will be the Advent wreath and our classroom Christmas tree. Please create a “Keepsake” ornament with your child for our classroom tree. You have the freedom to make what you want, but I stress that you make it durable (and not made out of glass for safety reasons), so that when the ornament is returned to you, you will be able to put it on your Christmas tree year after year. I have fond memories of making an ornament with my mother in first grade and I still have it! After it was returned to me by the teacher, my mother and I would put this ornament on the tree and think back to when we made it together. Now I would like to share this tradition with you! You can get many ideas and/or patterns from the internet, Google, and/or Pinterest. Please make sure your child’s writes his/her name on the ornament. It is due Thursday, December 6th and counts as a Religion grade. Thank you and may God bless you and your family this Advent and Christmas Season. I hope you enjoy your family time together!
We are getting ready for the Christmas season and thought a nice way to spread Christmas cheer is by exchanging Christmas cards with one another. In order to make this as simple as possible to distribute, you will see a list of the children with a number preceding each name. Please have your child address the inside of the Christmas card however you like, but please put the student’s number on the envelope. Please note that cards without numbers on the outside will not be distributed.
We are in need of donations for 21 white, 8×10 shopping bags for each child, which can be found in Dollar Tree. We will be using it as a craft and to hold our Christmas cards. If you are able to donate these bags, please let us know in writing. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity and help!
Please send all cards in by Thursday, December 20th. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

It is a tradition that St. Nicholas would leave small trinkets, candy, fruit in shoes of good boys and girls. We will be making shoes out of brown lunch bags. If you can donate brown lunch bags, we would be very grateful. Also, if you are able to donate a class set (21) of Christmas stickers, activity pads, candy/candy canes, etc., please place the item in a concealed bag to the main office. All food items must be nut/tree nut free. Please clearly label the package “Kindergarten” or “Mrs. Scigliano” and leave it with Sr. Barbara. She will see that I get it. Thank you so much for your help and remember “Shhhh…it’s a surprise from St. Nick!” Please send in donations by the morning of Wednesday, December 5th. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity!
Report card conferences will be on Thursday, December 6th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Conference time sign up are through Option C. Please log in, select parent teacher conference and sign up for an available time. Looking forward to seeing you!

We are about in the middle of the first trimester already! Time flies when you are busy! Parents with children in grades 1 to 8 will be able to go on Option C and see grades. For Kindergarten, I will reach out to you if I see any concerns thus far. If you have any concerns or questions, please always feel free to reach out to me. You can write me a note and place it in your child’s folder, call the school and leave me a message, or email me.

By the end of the year all skills on the report card will be addressed.
Thanks so much,
