The words that we are working on for each week have been updated with dates attached so it is clearer what we are working on each week. Also the words we are working on are on the homework sheet that goes home each week.

Unit 5 week 3 (5/14-5/18):

  • It is important for your child to know spelling of words not only in isolation, but also when writing sentences. To help your child with this, practice the spelling of not only the spelling words but the trick words (high-frequency words) as well.

  • Your child should focus  on the phonics skills so that it can be applied in their reading and writing. Memorizing the words is not enough — focus on the skill!

  • Use index cards: have your child write the spelling/trick words and use them as flash cards when reading at night — look for the words of the week in books at home.
