March has been a very busy month so far for the nursery class at St. Mel’s Catholic Academy. We started off the month by doing an author study on Dr. Seuss’ and celebrating his birthday on March 2. We painted rainbows, made edible rainbows, made shamrock prints, graphed Lucky charms and made Green play dough for St. Patrick’s Day.
The nursery class has been learning about some of the miracles Jesus performed in preparation for Easter. During the season of Lent the nursery class is trying to “be humble” “be helpful” “be respectful” and “be grateful” as we learn about the beatitudes.
Nursery is inspired by some famous artist, Claude Monet, Wassily Kadinsky, Piet Modrian and Vincent Van Gogh. We had so much fun finger painting, water painting, drip painting and more!
The nursery class made a delicious friendship fruit salad.
The nursery class has had a very busy few months getting acclimated to their new teachers, new friends and new routines. We are learning our colors, shapes and alphabet too, so many things for us to do!
We celebrated Thanksgiving by making corn bread and butter. We spoke about who and what we are thankful for and we shared a “friendship fruit salad”. We have so much to be thankful for at this time of year.
At this time of year we will begin to prepare for the coming of baby Jesus, we made advent wreaths in class which we will “light” a candle each week when we say our morning prayers. The nursery class will make a nativity scene and candy cane craft as well. We are looking forward to this special time of year.
